Windows only: Twingly Screensaver is a cool new app/screensaver that lets you visualize blog posts in real time all over the globe.
From the site:
“Twingly screensaver is visualizing the global blog activity in real time. Forget RSS readers where you see only what you’re interested in. With Twingly screensaver you get a 24/7 stream of all (viewer discretion advised) blog activity, straight to your screen.
To use the screensaver you need a PC with Windows and a graphics card supporting OpenGL. Enable Asian language support in Windows, there’s lot of that stuff in the blogosphere.”

Foundstone, a division of McAfee, offers over 50 unique network security tools for free. These are not new by any means, but hopefully you can get some use of them.
Enjoy these and as stated on the site, some antivirus programs may throw a red flag, but don’t be alarmed. Be sure to check out the videos explaining the Hacme applications.
NOTE: It seems the foundstone.com site is no longer being updated. You can keep tabs on the developers of these applications at the McAfee Avert Labs blog.
What free tools do you use for penetration testing and network security?
Freeware WinContig approaches defragmentation on a per file basis instead of a ‘whole drive’. It is possible to select individual files, or a whole drive for defragmentation.
From Help -> About:
WinContig consolidates fragmented files so that each occupies a single, contiguous space on the volume.
As a result your system can access files more efficiently.
WinContig is also portable and requires no special DLL files, so just throw it on your USB drive and go.
If you are daring, fs-driver.org offers freeware to access Linux Ext2 file systems through Windows with read/write access on Windows NT, 2000, and 2003.
